OVERVIEW OF THE COMMUNITY EXTENSION SERVICES AND DEVELOPMENT (CESDEV) PROGRAM

The University of Manila as an educational institution is aware and sensitive of her role in the upliftment of both her students and fellowmen, making their lives better, brighter, lighter and more livable, as reflected in her Vision and Mission.

The University of Manila has the advocacy to promote and sustain its trifocal function of instruction, research and community extension services, otherwise known as community outreach programs. Hence, an institutional Community Extension Services and Development (CESDEV) Program was established for the systematic implementation and monitoring of its activities.

AIMS OF CESDEV PROGRAM

1.Organize programs and activities that promote changes in the lives of the community residents for the better.

2.Provide interventions to make the community members participate more actively and to be more responsible and accountable for the good of the majority.

3.Increase the participation of the stakeholders of the University the physical and social environment of the adopted communities.

4.Involve the barangay leaders and the constituents in community organizing.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

The CESDEV Program of the University of Manila is institutional and this indicates that all colleges and departments of the said institution will have schedules in their programs. To facilitate the flow and implementation of the programs, rules and regulations are formulated.

The chairperson, coordinators, and the students who are to conduct a community outreach program have to observe the rules and regulations stated below.

In the conduct of the outreach program, the Chair of the said program should:

1.See the chairperson of the CESDEV Program regarding the conduct of the outreach activity.

2.If there is a need to use any facility or equipment of the University of Manila, inform the Office of the Property Custodian.

3.Fill-up the Browser’s Form.

4.See to it that all the smooth implementation of the activity or project.

5.Make an evaluation of the accomplished activity.

6.Submit a complete report of the outputs of the said activity or project together with the evaluation to the CESDEV Program Office and to the concerned College.
